Brenda is a native Texan and she and husband raised their family of 4 sons in East Texas and the North
Dallas area. During those years she studied oil painting techniques and became an accomplished painter and member of
Carrollton/Farmers Branch Art Association. In 1976 she served as the coordinator of their Bi-Centennial Art Show, responsible
for arranging 6 different locations in the city and for transporting, moving and hanging the show each month for that 6 month
period. However, her painting waned when she used her talents to study Braille at Visual Aid Volunteers and for seven years
produced Textbooks in Braille as a volunteer for the Texas Educaton Agency. Over the years Brenda developed a love of wordplay
and puzzles of all kinds. She joined the National Puzzlers' League in 1996 and through the NPL she has made many friends in the national crossword puzzle industry and has set a goal of having
one of her crossword puzzles accepted and published in The New York Times. So far, the NYT editor, Mr. Will Shortz, has rejected
three of her puzzles, but she plans to keep on keeping on till she is successful. Brenda joined her husband to live
in Uncertain, Texas in 1986. They moved to their current home on the main channel of the Big Cypress River in 1992; so all
they need to do to enjoy fishing on Caddo Lake is walk down the sloping front yard to their boat in the boathouse (shown in
picture at top left) and go find the right tree or lily pad where the fish are biting. Y'all need to "come on down".
